The St. Mary’s Solidarity was founded in the 1970s and serves at the backbone of our community’s social and spiritual life. The Sisterhood organizes hot lunches after each Sunday liturgy, assists in the beautification of the church for feast days, and organizes special events in the life of our parish.
Led by devout, licensed catechists, the parish’s Catechism program prepares young children and parish youth for a life in Christ. With the recent enrollment of nearly 20, the younger children meet before Sunday services and the young adults meet virtually each week. Our parish youth play important roles from service at the altar to edifying performances throughout the year.
The kliros is the area inside a church where the chanters gather at services. Our parish has a rich tradition of dynamic congregational singing that is well known throughout the American Metropolia. A variety of singers fulfill duty as cantor by leading the congregation in the special hymns appointed by the church calendar. Parish youth routinely chant the Sunday epistles. Beyond Sunday liturgies, our kliros sings at baptisms, weddings, funerals, and other special events throughout the year. We rehearse each Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Open door policy: all are welcome!
This very active parish Facebook group meets virtually on a weekly basis to pray the rosary, molebens, akathists, and Way of the Cross. It’s also a hub for parish, church, and community news. Please speak with Fr. Yurii to be included in this online parish ministry.
Founded in 2022 in memory of San Diego’s own kobzar, Andrij Hryhorovych Kytasty, this bandura ensemble of parish youth presents Ukrainian folk and spiritual music at church and community events throughout the year.
