Over 60 parishioners gathered at Carmel Creek Park on Sunday, July 13th for the First Annual Parish Soccer Match. Organized by the “God’s Flowers” Parish Catechetical Program, the event was held in memory of +Bohdan Kniahyncykj who was a great benefactor, community advocate, and beloved St. Nicholas in our parish.
To kick off the event, the national anthems were sung and Fr. Yurii prayed a blessing. Numerous games were played throughout the afternoon with teams, “boys vs girls”, broken up by ages: children, young teens, and adults.
Fr. Yurii refereed and sometimes joined the games while refereeing and managed to even score a few goals. At one of the final games, parents joined their children in a family friendly match.
The afternoon ended with a group photo and few words about +Bohdan followed by prayers for his repose.
